A
wide variety of clubs, run by staff members, are offered to the
students each term. These can include Calligraphy, Choral Work,
Orchestral Workshops, Computer related activities , Wildlife Clubs,
Squash, Cooking, Home Crafts and many others.
The
Wildlife and Bird Watching Clubs often venture out to the national
reserves in many varied locations – from semi-arid landscapes to
mountain forest. Those participating in one of the Cavina choirs
are able to perform at various functions throughout the year.
Cavina
pupils also have the opportunity to leave the classroom and visit
many parts of the country, either as part of their Geography and
Science syllabuses or as an extra activity organised by members
of staff. These include visits to the National Park, areas of Conversational
interest, Out door Education Centres, volcanic regions, the National
Museum and an annual trek up Mt. Kenya for the Senior Form. The
ascent of Mt. Kenya is a highlight for the leaving students as they
tackle extreme conditions to reach Pt. Lenana, 5000m above sea level.
